The Ae Dil OST is a tender ballad about a heart that refuses to stop hoping. The narrator turns to his own heart for answers, wondering which path he has wandered down and how the one he loves could drift so far away. Nothing in his life feels missing except her, and even as he admits that his love is one-sided, he cannot make his heart understand. He may live without her, but his heart will not, and though he is told he has no permission to meet her, he asks only to visit her dreams. The song traces the ache of unanswered requests and stories left unfinished, and it closes on a gentle, repeated wish that she will come, if only once in a while.
